Square One Systems Design
The mission of Square One Systems Design is to create unique, automated process tools that address the needs of America’s scientific community. Our designs are characterized by innovation and daring coupled with a solid devotion to functionality. Square One’s expertise in flexible robotics, machine vision and mechanism design cuts across a broad range of scientific needs. Square One exploits the core technologies that it develops by bringing compelling new products to market. Founded in 2001, Square One is located in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and is under the direction of Robert Viola.
Square One's interest in the ILC is focused mainly on the support and alignment of the accelerator's many thousands of lattice elements. Square has developed a full suite of positioning systems tailored for accelerator applications. These systems range from high resolution servo-driven manipulators consistent with beam-based alignment strategies to very high payload manipulators capable of supporting the main linac cryomoduels. All of our manipulators can be integrated directly into vibration damping pedestals and their unique design opens the possibility of fully-automated installation and adjustment.
