President’s message:

"Industrialization is a critical component of the ILC program. Mobilizing the capability of industry to cost effectively produce the required high tech hardware and implement innovative construction practices within cost and schedule is critical to the program’s success. Industrialization requires early and meaningful engagement of the industrial community; too often in the past industrial capability has not been integrated in the early stages of major science projects which resulted in higher manufacturing costs and schedule slippages.  The ultimate success of the ILC requires a continuous laboratory-university-industrial partnership throughout all its stages. Therefore, the Linear Collider Forum of America was established in 2005 to facilitate the integration of the broad spectrum of U.S. and Canadian industry into the ILC program.”

Activities:

The LCFOA provides a partnership between its industry members and government funded R&D efforts during the design, component manufacturing and siting of the ILC. Planned activities and interactions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Providing LCFOA members with current information on the ILC program through newsletters, bulletins and meetings in Washington, DC or at a national laboratory,

  • Supporting the Americas Regional Team’s bid to host the ILC.

  • Serving as an advocate for early and meaningful industry participation in the ILC program,

  • Preparing and presenting briefings and white papers to the ILC program on relevant industrial issues,

  • Brief and inform members of Congress and their staffs of the benefits of the ILC to the Nation and its contribution to the strengthening of the U.S. industrial base in the 21st century,

  • Facilitating two-way technology transfer between the ILC program and industry, and

  • Conducting and/or contributing to industrialization studies to reduce component manufacturing costs and schedules, and evaluate innovative construction practices.
